Bairnswear 20:Vintage knitting pattern for baby. The prefect wool outfit for the modern baby, from 1920's. I have a photo of my mother who was born in 1925 dressed in a similar outfit in her pram at 1 year old. Fabulous pattern with instructions for all in one with collar, bonnet and bootees, coat, as seen on front cover, matinee jacket with different design, cardigan, vest, legginettes, rib vest, cross over vest and button knickers and finally a body belt, or body warmer for the tummy. 11 garments in all. Some garments are knitted in vintage 4ply which is nearer our modern double knitting, or in vintage 3ply which is nearer our modern 4ply, tension squares will tell you if a change of ply or needles is required. To fit 19" chest, 20", chest,22" chest and 23" chest, for the cardigan, matinee and coat. The vests fit 17" and a rib vest that will fir from 16" chest upwards.

Bairnswear 45-Beth: Great vintage baby outdoor set for toddler from 1930.  Knitted in garter stitch with angora trim, legginettes in stocking stitch. To fit 24 inch chest (over clothes) Knitted in vintage 3ply, try a square in modern 4ply.  Instructions for side buttoning coat, angora trimmed beret and over shoe leggings. This is the one on the front cover, the others are shown below as individual patterns.

Bairnswear 76: Vintage knitting patterns for baby, 2 outdoor sets with stunning bonnets for baby girl in first size birth to 6 months in vintage 3ply. Try modern 4ply yarn in a tension square and change needles if need to retain sizing. Pram cover and Sleeping Muff  in double knitting included, pattern on jumpers are embroidered in simple stitches after completion. 1930's designs.

Bairnswear 78: Vintage knitting pattern for outdoor sets for babies 9-18 months - fabulously retro! 23" chest, little flared coat and beret, knitted in vintage 4ply, try modern double knitting for this size, but try modern 4ply or even 3ply for smaller sizes, using smaller needles, ie 10's for 4ply and 11's for the 3ply. Plain little coat with collar and pull on hat for a 24" chest  in vintage 3ply or modern 4ply   and 25" chest with bonnet and pattern on skirt of coat, as shown on baby on front page, this one is also in vintage 3ply or modern 4ply. This pattern has scuffs and scratches to front, spine is weak and pages have separated, also there are pen ticks on last page, 1st and 2nd pages.

Bairnswear 106: Great vintage baby knitting pattern for complete set from late 1930s. This super pattern has instructions for bonnet and jacket and leggings as shown on the front, matinee coat, vest, cardigan, wrap over vest and piltch knickers with button front flap. Underwear and on of the cardigan ate knitted in 3ply, the cover set and matinee are knitted in 4ply. To fit 3-6 months or 19-23 inch chest.

Bairnswear 134: Great vintage knitting pattern for Outdoor Sets from 1930s. To fit 1-2 years 3 different designs to fit chest 21"-23" with 3 different beret designs too. Knitted in vintage 4ply so modern double knitting may be better, but if knitted in modern 4ply would make a size smaller if knitted on size smaller needles, try 10's or 11's for smaller sizes and adjust length of skirt of coat, sleeves and legs of legginettes. This design is over 80 years old!

Bairnswear 154: Vintage knitting pattern for a pram set for a boy with a beret and for girl with a bonnet. Knitted in 3ply  in an easy to follow pattern. To fit 3 to 9 months baby.  Pattern is in lovely condition with only a little wear to edges.1940's

Bairnswear 1205:Great vintage pram sets for babies, 3-6 months, keeps baby warm and gives easy movement - not so bundled up as if they were in quilted jacket or fun fur jackets! Knitted garments, particularly if worked in 100% merino wool or a wool mix (machine washable now a days) are warm, light and give baby freedom to move his arms and legs without over heating.. Here we have two different sets, one for a boy and a lacy one for little girl, with a pixie hood, this jacket and bonnet would make a great christening or birth gift knitted in modern 3ply it would fit a new born baby - use size 11 or 10 needles instead of the 9's recommended, make jacket a little shorter so as not to overwhelm baby.

Bairnswear 1224:Vintage knitting pattern for older baby, great little ribbed trousers, coats and hood for boy or girl. 20"-21" chest in simple twisted rib design. Knitted again in vintage 3ply or modern 4ply, the ribbed trousers could be worn with a more modern 1960's angel top! Pattern is clean and sound just a little worn and nicked around edges. 1930's

There are instructions for all items shown on the front, pretty pram set with bonnet, coat and leggings, bootees and mittens and ribbed undies set. To fit 3-6 months or 20 inch chest, knitted in a vintage 3ply that is similar to a modern 4ply - for a smaller size try modern 3ply.

Bairnswear 1248: Great vintage baby knitting pattern pram set and dress 1930s. This is a super pattern with instructions for dress and bonnet, jacket and leggings with lacy skirt to dress and jacket, very pretty and retro. To fit 19 inch chest. Worked in vintage 3ply so if you want the size suggested then try a tension square in modern 4ply as this is nearer the original ply , but if you would like it a bit smaller to fit a new born then knit it in modern 3ply.

Bairnswear 1296:Vintage knitting pattern for lovely pram set to fit 6-12 months, the little jacket has a lacy skirt and is double breasted, the bonnet is so pretty, there is also a simple shawl  or blanket 27"x24", bootees and mittens to match. All knitted in vintage 3ply or modern 4ply.Good value pattern, in nice condition for late 1930's pattern - over 70 years old.

Bairnswear 1314:Vintage knitting pattern for baby pram set with a difference. What a great bonnet! this little set has a great kitten ear bonnet and with fair isle on the sleeves and around the edge of bonnet and the other one, the baby is wearing is a hooded coat with kitten ear hood, with baby cable down the front and round the front of the hood. To fit 3-9 months or  chest 19 or 20 inch.  Knitted in vintage 3ply, try modern 4ly for correct sizing or modern 3ply for a little smaller.

Bairnswear 1323: Vintage knitting pattern for 2 lovely pram sets from the 1930's knitted in vintage 3ply (try modern 4ply for a good fit) chest 20 inches. Pattern has crease to centre and slight tears at edges at crease otherwise sound and clean.

Bairnswear 1348:  This is a fabulous baby vintage pattern in great condition, only the right hand corner clipped to remove price. This pattern was first printed in the 1930's but was still in print in the 1950's.  There is a lovely little girls pram set with 'kitten' hood and another with picot trimming.  Both are for a 20" chest and are knitted in vintage 3ply, for a smaller size knit in modern 3ply, otherwise try modern 4ply for similar sizing.

Bairnswear 1382:Vintage knitting pattern for two different pram sets or outdoor set as they were sometimes called. The one on the front has lacy panels and tassels at the waist, the other one is knitted from the neck down and has fair isle trim. To fit 20" chest, 6-12 months, again knitted in vintage 3ply so try modern 4ply for size stated or modern 3ply for smaller fit.

Bairnswear 1406: Great pram set knitting pattern from late 1930s for first size baby. To fit 19 inch chest, both are nice and easy to knit in vintage 3ply, so try modern 4ply in a tension square. Bonnet, coat and leggings. Very sweet and so retro!

Bairnswear 1429: Great vintage baby pram sets for the first year from 1940s. This super pattern has instructions for two pram sets one as shown and front cover baby and the other a bit plainer in inset. These older patterns are so sweet. To fit 19 - 20 inch chest and knitted in a wool that was thicker than most so would probably be similar to modern baby double knitting.

Bairnswear 1442: Great vintage baby knitting pattern for pram sets from 1940s. This pattern has instructions for  two sets, one with pixie hood. to fit 6-12 months or 20-21 inch chest. Knitted in thicker wool that would be similar to a modern baby double knitting, always work a tension square.

Bestway 989: Great vintage 1940s knitting pattern for baby pram set  in two colours. To fit 6-12 months, up to a 23 inch chest. Try a smaller needles for smaller size if you would rather knit in 4ply. Always work a tension square in the yarn that you decide to use. Instructions for jacket and leggings.

Bestway 1075 Great vintage knitting pattern for baby pram set from the 1940's This one is to fit 6-12 months knitted in vintage 3ply or  modern 4ply as this is the same ply as the old 3ply. Top fit chest 19", work in modern 3ply for a smaller size.

Bestway 1098: Great vintage baby pram set knitting pattern from 1930s. This lovely pattern is for a nice early pram set and two different pairs of bootees with the longer tops that were typical of the 1930s. Very sweet little set in vintage 3ply, but remember that modern 4ply is nearer the ply, so always work a tension square and change needles if needed. The coat is to fit 24 inch chest - remember in those days babies wore a lot more clothes than modern babies - no central heating! To make a smaller size try using modern 3ply or smaller needles. The pattern is little bobbles on a rib design by the look of the inside illustration. Not made this one yet.

Bestway 1427: Great vintage baby pram set knitting pattern from 1940s. This pattern has a tiny section of simple colour work, great intro to fair isle. There are instructions for a little coat 20 inch chest if worked in modern 4ply which is the same as the old 3ply, but will come up smaller if worked in modern 3ply. There is a little beret, but it would be very easy to knit a hood instead.

Bestway 1573: Great vintage baby knitting pattern for pram set 1940s. This pattern is from the late 1930s and early 1940s and will fit 6-12 months, the little double breasted coat, footless leggings, that go over shoes, gloves and helmet are knitted in vintage 4ply, so try a modern 4ply and change needles or try a modern double knitting that is not too thick, always work a tension square and change needles if needed. Bestway 2283: Great vintage baby pram set knitting pattern from the late 1930s. This set is very cute and very typical of the era with the little pixie bonnet and smattering of embroidery to give the effect of fair isle at the edge, this is repeated on collar and cuffs of coat. What a super little pushchair! This set is knitted in vintage 3ply, so try modern 4ply in a tension square and change needles if needed. There are instructions for bonnet, coat, leggings and mittens to fit 24-25 inch chest, very simple broken rib pattern.

Bestway A2417: Super vintage baby fair isle knitting pattern summer pram set 1940s. This is a lovely pattern and a good introduction to fair isle as it is so simple. To fit 6-12 months, 21 inch chest. For a smaller set try modern 3ply. Great little spring set or even for a sunny autumn. Worked in vintage 3ply so try modern 4ply in a tension square and change needles if needed. There are instructions for bonnet, bootees and matinee jacket. I am about to make one of these in alpaca, so will put the results on site.

Bestway A2727: Great vintage baby knitting pattern from 1940s for pram set. There are instructions for coat, leggings, bonnet and mittens in a simple but effective design, knitted in vintage 4ply to fit 24 inch chest, so try in a tension square with both the modern 4ply and modern double knitting to see which knits better and again if you want a smaller size try using modern 3ply, a tension square will give you the stitches per inch so you can see which will fit the size you want better. Don’t forget that pram coats usually go over other clothes so they are generally a size bigger than required to allow easy of movement for baby.

BJAY31-55: Great vintage baby knitting pattern for pram set from 1940s. Instructions for diamond coat set with legging in moss stitch and a bonnet as well as a beret. To fit 6-12 months and is knitted in a fine 4ply or in 3ply for a smaller size.

The boy's set has a helmet and hip length jacket with collar, the girl's has a beret and longer coat with waist, both sets have leggings. knitted in vintage 3ply to fit 20 inch chest.

Glinting 101: Stunning 1930s baby vintage knitting pattern pram set. This is so typical of the era, instructions for pram coat, beret, leggings with spats to go over shoes and mittens with thumbs. Worked in vintage 3ply which will be more like modern 4ply and to fit chest measurement of 24 inches. If a smaller size is required then try using modern 3ply, the coat is in a simple broken double rib pattern.

There are instructions for a pretty pram set with dress and vest, piltch (pants) and socks - complete retro outfit for baby. To fit 18 inch chest and knitted in vintage 3ply so try modern 4ply in a tension square. Note the shoulder button so typical of the time.

Greenock B518: Great vintage baby pram set knitting pattern from 1940s. This design has a pixie bonnet, mittens, coat and leggings to fit about 3-9 months or chest 28 inches (remember this is to go over other clothes so probably a 24-25 inch actual chest. The stitch is a double moss stitch, with mock cables up front and at yoke. Coat has set in sleeves and a collar. Knitted in double knitting wool, always work a tension square.

JS33B: Great vintage knitting pattern for toddler out door set and jumper suit. There are instructions for a neat little coat that is double breasted, over shoe leggings, jumper with shoulder buttons and little shorts to match. Knitted in 4ply to fit a 21-22 inch chest.

KGC26-Pram set: Great vintage baby knitting pattern for pram set from 1940s. This set is fabulous, easy to knit and so cute with double breasted jacket, ridged pattern for the trousers, beret, jumper and mittens with tiny thumb. Knitted in vintage 3ply but try modern 4ply if you like and change needles. To fit 21 inch chest. 18 -24 months. Fabulous for a retro baby. This would great in pillar-box red, gold or green, all popular colours at the time.

Ladyship 551: Great vintage baby pram set knitting pattern early 1930s. Another super early knitting pattern, this time for very pretty pram set with lace panel on coat - notice the typical 1920s off centre fastening! He's so cute this little chap, with his little cap on a slant. To fit 6-18 months 21 inch chest and there are instructions for a bonnet too. Worked in vintage 4ply, so baby double knitting might work, but do try a tension square in both if you can as size 11 or 3mm are used which suggest a 4ply weight. Knit in modern 3ply for a smaller set. Crocheted buttons, instructions included.

This super pattern has instructions for the coat, with fair isle border (or you could add the design as embroidery) at yoke, leggings and beret. Lavenda 866-12 Girl's Outdoor Set: Great vintage toddler pram set, or outdoor set. This pattern has also a beret so it can be knitted for a boy or girl. There are instructions for  a lovely flared coat with cable yoke, leggings, thumbed mittens and both a beret and bonnet. Knitted in vintage 3ply that should work well in modern 4ply, always work a tension square. Coat to fit 22 inch chest and is 13 inches long.

There are instructions for double breasted coat, beret thumbed mittens and bonnet. To fit 23 inch chest over clothes and the coat is 11 inches long.
