PA27-73 Dress: Great vintage babies dress knitting pattern from 1930s. This lovely dress has a collar and cuffed short sleeves to fit 22 inch chest. Knitted in a yarn similar to 4ply. Work a tension square and change needles if needed. Length 16 inches, but this is adjustable. For a smaller size use modern 3ply and a size smaller needle.

baby jumper knitting pattern 1940s PA173-Bethany Jumper: Great baby jumper knitting pattern from 1940s. These little jumpers have shoulder openings making it easy to dress baby. This pretty chevron borders. Very little shaping in this one, to fit 19 inch chest. Knitted in modern 3ply, change needles if tension needs adjusting. So easy and quick to knit this one.

vintage baby layettle knitting pattern 1940s PA173-Jennifer Layette: Great vintage baby layette, from 1940s. I like these multi garment patterns as there is so much to choose from and create a retro feel for baby's wardrobe. This one has a pretty dress with collar, jacket which is long enough to cover dress, but can be made shorter and bonnet, in a chevron design. The petticoat, knickers and vest have borders of the same design, with a sweet picot edging. Bootee have neat little rib cuff as do the cosy mittens. All knitted in a 2ply wool that is similar to modern 3ply. There is also a shawl a seen in this picture. The shawl measures 53 inches square and is knitted 2ply as well, but modern 3ply should knit to this tension easily, try changing needle size if not. To fit 18-20 inch chest.

Instructions are included in the above pattern, but they can be purchased separately if required. The top of the petticoat is ribbed for neat fit, both vest and knickers are a fine rib also. Knitted in modern 3ply. The petticoat and vest to fit a 16 inch chest, but will stretch.

This pattern has two designs the one on the left with a gored skirt and the one on the right with block stitch. To fit 17-18 inch chest with 11-12 inch from shoulder to hem. Both knitted in a 3ply that would be nearer to a modern fine 4ply.

These little sets were ideal for toddlers on a chilly spring morning out for a walk. These are to fit around 2 years of age or 24 inch chest. Knitted in 4ply which would be similar to a fine double knitting, with a change of needles they could be made for a smaller baby. Always work a tension square. there are instructions for the straight jacke tstyle for the a boys cot and the waisted fuller version for a little girl, a sweet little beret compliments these coat. These 1930s pattern were used through out the 1940s as well due to shortage of paper, there were very few reprints until the end of the 1940s. Both wool and paper were still rationed other for forces knitting. These pretty jackets were to fit 17, 18, 20 inch chest and knitted in a yarn similar to modern 4ply. It can be daunting to use fine wool and needles but the effort is well worth the stunning results.
