Advertising at 'He will approve of the tailored masculine appearance' and as having 'interesting double diamond pattern that looks intricate but is very easy to do' - how could you resist! It is knitted in vintage 3ply, so try modern 4ply in a tension square. To fit 38-40 inch chest. This is a single sheet pattern.

DMC 73: Great vintage mens pullover knitting pattern from early 1920s. Knitted in pearl cotton no8 in ecru and brown, but you can use all colours, pattern gives some alternatives that would be available at the time for the purists or stage and TV authenticity. About size, it says that it is design for a slim tall young man! so probably about 36-38 inch chest, but should be quite easy if knitted against and existing pullover that fits well.

This wartime knitting pattern has instructions for a really nice cable polo neck sweater knitted in vintage 4ply. Try modern 4ply in a tension square and see if you need to change needles, the neck is knitted on 4 needles or a circular needle or work the neck before sewing up one of the shoulders seams. To fit 38 inch chest. Pattern for sale has a slight neck to front edge and has shelf wear. Very good for 75years old.

The needles suggested by pattern makes me think that the plys should be similar. The tension on size 9 (3.75mm) is 8 stitches and 8 rows to an inch. To fit 38-40 inch chest. Easy to knit broken rib. Neck is worked on 4 needles.

This design has a lot of stretch in it, so probably between 36-38 inch chest.

No tension is given, but work a square and see how many stitches you knit to the inch to see what your chosen wool will give you.
