vintage girls pants to match petticoat from 1920s
vintage little gitls liberty bodice knitting pattern 1920s

WK476-Liberty Bodice: Great vintage little girls bodice knitting pattern from 1920s. This little garment was popular from Victorian times until the 1950s. I wore them as a child. This little undergarment was either knitted with reinforced bands of tape or made from cotton and had enforced bands. In the ones I wore as I got older were stiffen bands up the sides and down the back. This one has strips of artificial silk (rayon) as reinforcement. They were worn over vests, under petticoats to aid warmth and were relics of the old child stays that helped a young girls posture so she would walk and sit straighter. These little things were made just to aid warmth - no central heating in homes or the school room in those days - I was art school in the early fifties and wall we had was one room with black 'Tortoise' Stove or covered in coal burner. At story time we gathered round it on our little chairs and the teacher opened the little door so we could see the red glow in side.

This lovely strip classic pyjama set is knitted in a 4ply to fit a girl of 6-8, nice and full for freedom of movement.
