Bairnswear 175: Great vintage knitting pattern for toys from the 1930's. There are instructions for a quirky ostrich, who is about 15 inches tall, a great golly 17 inches, a fabulous elephant who measures 14 inches long, a mandarin doll who measures 7.5 inches all knitted in vintage 3ply, so try modern 4ply and a monkey knitted in angora and vintage 3ply. There is also a little clown doll made from folding wool who measures 10 inches. The ostrich is made from pom-poms and pipe cleaners.

Bestway 822: Vintage toy knitting pattern for a really cute black faced lamb 1930s. She will measure 11.5" tall and 8.75" from head to tail. She has been knitted in Astrakhan fancy wool, there are several about at the moment that will work, try to get a modern 4ply version as this little lamb is knitted in vintage 3ply, this will translate better to modern 4ply, try a tension square with chosen fancy yarn.

Good Friends - George and Edward: Great vintage knitting pattern for a Teddy and a Golly from the early 1930s. Again there are no sizes given. George is bold and bright with a super bow at his neck and Edward is a serious rather chunky bear who can be knitted in a ready brushed yarn or if using pure wool brush afterwards. Knitted in a 4ply yarn but can be knitted in double knitting, but will take more yarn and be bigger. Pattern includes both toys to make.

Good Friends - Jacko Monkey: Great vintage knitting pattern for a little monkey. Monkeys were a popular toy in the 1920s and 30s as people kept them as pets. My Great Gran had one called Binki - he was so noisy and very naughty, but at night, about 7pm he would curl up in his little bed and go to sleep until 7am in the morning - no problems! He wore a little blue jacket and went for a walk on a lead like a little puppy or sat on Grandpa's shoulder. Enough of that!! This is Jacko and he is very sweet, not sure of size as it does not say. Can be knitted in double knitting or modern 4ply.

This little chap is the same pattern as his mum but knitted in a thinner ply and smaller needles - choose the yarn and needles for the size that you want. He is a super little chap.
