Chadwick’s Knit for Defence: 172w2: Vintage knitting war time book. USA. Lovely book from 1941 for sweethearts, mothers, sisters, aunts and grandmas to knit for their loved ones fighting the good fight overseas. There are a couple of the patterns below. The book contains jumpers, round neck, polo neck, slash neck, chest protectors, gloves, helmets, sleeveless pullover, square neck jerkin, beanie hat, the high neck pullover and gloves as below, socks on 4 needles.  A needle conversion chart is included.

We had a friend who was in USA Air Force in the early 1950s when I was a small child. He seem so exotic and interesting to a child of 4 years old.
