Although there is a picture of a bag, there are no instructions for it in the pattern - probably another pattern was produced for this. But as shows this is easy to make - knit a oblong the size required - use an existing bag or pattern - and when finished cast off and attach a lining, fold either in half as seen or in to three to give a flap, then blanket stitch sides and either make a loop and add a button with flap or add a zip and pompoms. This is an easy way to make a bag with any design on the outside part.

vintage fair ilse gloves knitting pattern 1940s

Weldons 668: Great vintage ladies fair isle mittens knitting pattern from the 1940s. This pattern has two designs both knitted on 2 needles. Worked in vintage 3ply so try modern 4ply - this makes them not so bulky as knitting double knitting. The Fleur de Lys mitts were originally worked in blue with white and the bottom lattice pattern where worked in brown with stone. Any colour will do but these will help if you are knitting for vintage authenticity. To fit average hand.

vintage ladies fair isle mittens 1940s knitting pattern
Weldons 813: Great vintage fair isle glove knitting pattern 1940s. This is a lovely pattern with two styles of mittens. These were so popular at the time as they used up scraps of wool and were very warm. To fit the average hands. Colours suggested that would be typical of the time were Natural, red, for the ones at the top and the bottom pair were in yellow, green, blue and red - very cheerful. But as wool was rationed they were more often knitted in what ever was around. To fit average hand - for smaller or large size change needles size. Knitted in 2 needles. Always work a tension square.
