Includes instructions for making larger or smaller. Has interesting pictures on back page of other patterns available at the time.

I also knitted them again in the 1960s for work as I worked in a hot factory office, typing for hours on end! These are knitted in double knitting on bigger needles to give a loose, cool fabric. Golly Wools 12L: Great ladies vintage summer top knitting pattern 1950s. This pattern is probably from the late 1940s or early 1950s as it is still in economy mode (wool was rationed and still difficult to get hold of for a few years after the war) There are two pretty summer tops to fit 32-38 inch bust and a cardigan to fit 34-36 inch bust, all knitted in quick-to-knit wool, which will be similar to our double knitting, these are knitted on large needles (4 and 6 imperials -6mm and 5mm) you may even find aran works better - but adjust the needle size to get the correct tension. The larger needles give these tops a light airy feel to them.

Super shape to shoulders, the one on the front is in ribbing and there is another one inside in garter stitch with little stand up collar, beautifully shaped. Both are knitted in double knitting. Always work a tension square. You could make either of them in double knitting angora.

Greenock B349: Great vintage ladies cape and bolero knitting pattern form the 1940s. This pattern is for two iconic garments from the 1930s and 1940s - the cape and bolero. These are knitted then brushed, but they could be knitted in a ready brushed yarn or angora. Always work a tension square and  knit in double knitting or even an aran weight, to fit 34 inch bust. Brushing is easy if you have a teazel brush (can get them on ebay!) but you must use pure wool to get the right effect.

Knitted in double knitting wool, which was a bit thicker than modern double knitting, so work at tension square and try modern Aran or a thick double knitting wool that knits to an Aran tension.

There is a short sleeved jumper to match, see below, included in this pattern.

Hayfield 175: Great vintage ladies mock cable rib cardigan late 1940s/early 1950's. Knitted in double knitting, always work a tension square and change needles if needed. Great pattern, I used this pattern a lot knitting matinee coats and jumpers in it as it is easy to do and very effective. To fit 34-36, 36-38 38-40 and 40-42 inch bust. Very useful and stylish jacket for the coming cooler days.
